The Decolane Family Kitchen In Upminster

Nestled away in a quiet street in Upminster is the most unassuming house from the road side, which opens up into a stunning array of rooms with so much charm and personality.

The homeowner, Charley, had undertaken a huge renovation project of the horseshoe shaped property, and wanted to create an open-plan family kitchen and utility in keeping with the eclectic style of the rest of her home.

A Blend Of Urban Industrial & Modern Rustic Kitchen Design

Interior Designer Lucy Dickinson first walked through the doors of Burlanes Sevenoaks back in 2014, and worked with our Sevenoaks design team to transform an unused bedroom in her beautiful family home, into a practical, hardworking home office space. A little over 6 years later (with the home office still as beautiful as ever!!), Lucy commissioned us to design, handmake and install her new family kitchen and dining room.

Kitchen Layouts: all the pros and cons

Choosing a layout is one of the most important decisions you will make in your kitchen design journey, and should be carefully considered to ensure your final choice works well for you, your family and your home. Our guide to kitchen islands - how big should they be?

A very popular design element to most new kitchens, a kitchen island is a very desirable feature creating additional worktop space, storage and seating. An island is also a great way of making use of redundant space in a large room, or increasing the functionality of a smaller kitchen.

The kitchen island is probably something we get asked about most, so we have rounded up some of our most frequently asked questions.

Your dream kitchen design: colour & finish

We are often asked what the rules are that should be followed when choosing the colour and finishings of a kitchen during the design process, and our answer is always the same: the only rule is to ignore trends and go with what you love! No two homes are the same, and no two kitchens should be either. Trends come and go, and what you see on Instagram or Pinterest may not be what you truly want, so always go with your heart to ensure your kitchen will still be perfect for you in years to come.

We have put together a few of our favourite ways to mix colours and texture in the kitchen...

Burlanes bespoke Wellsdown kitchen with curved island

Curves in the Wellsdown kitchen project in Sevenoaks

Traditionally, kitchen cabinets have always been angular and square, however in recent years, curves in the kitchen have become a more desired design, for both aesthetics and as a space saving technique.

The Wellsdown project in Sevenoaks was designed with a curved kitchen island to allow for a better flow around the room.

All of the Burlanes team take enormous pride in their work, go above and beyond and show an incredible level of client care.
