Meet The Team: Michele Williams - Burlanes Design Consultant

February 2018

At Burlanes, we believe it's our people that are our biggest asset, and it's down to their knowledge, passion and integrity that make us so proud of our service. Our team of experienced Design Consultants are always on hand to offer advise and guidance when designing your beautiful home interiors.

Michele Williams has recently joined the Burlanes design team, and is based at Burlanes Sevenoaks. Michele has a real flair for interior design, and is one of the first people you will meet when planning your dream space in your home.

Let's meet Michele...

Tell us a little bit about yourself...

I am a country girl at heart, looking after my animals and keeping on top of my veg garden. I have always been creative with brush or tool and spend my leisure time working on traditional upholstery projects. No foam or staples allowed here, strictly horse hair and nails!

Describe your dream kitchen...

I like the unusual and quirky, and as we often cook together as a family, I would choose a mix of two or even three surfaces for different tasks. Unusual fabrics to harmonise a mix of traditional and contemporary furniture, plus plenty of room to move around each other.

Tell us a little bit about your career. How has it unfolded?

After spending many years in media, I decided on a career change when the big '50' arrived. I recently graduated from Buckinghamshire New University with a Foundation Degree in Kitchen Design. As this was a three year blended learning course, it enabled me to work with two diverse kitchen companies, gaining valuable experience.

What do you think makes a 'happy home'?

A happy home accommodates and caters for everyone and everything. Thankfully, the days of the separate kitchen and dining area are gone, and a fully inclusive space catering for all the family is the norm.

Name a kitchen gadget that you couldn't live without!

Once I had finally discovered a ricer, it enabled me to create beautifully smooth mashed potatoes with mustard or horseradish plus one of my hen's eggs; heaven! It also helped my youngest son get over lumpy school mash!

What would people be most surprised to know about you?

I have been on 'Homes Under the Hammer', after spending a few years renovating small cottages, one of the renovations was filmed! Unfortunately, the episode keeps being repeated which is incredibly embarrassing!
