Meet The Team: Dave Parrett - Burlanes Production Manager

Meet The Team: Dave Parrett - Burlanes Production Manager
At Burlanes, we pride ourselves on producing unique, high quality interiors, that really do stand the test of time. We provide a bespoke service, from the initial meeting and design stages, right through to the final handover of a project. It is down to our dedicated and highly skilled staff members, that we are able to achieve this high level of service with all projects; from concept to completion.

Dave Parrett has been with Burlanes for 3 years now, starting his role within our company as a Bench Joiner, quickly progressing to the Senior Management Team, as Production Manager. Dave is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of our Kent workshop, and ensuring our beautiful pieces of furniture are finished to an impeccable, unrivalled standard, every single time.

Let's meet Dave...

How long have you been working with Burlanes?

I have been with Burlanes for a little over 3 years now, starting out as a Bench Joiner, then moving into the role of Production Manager.

Describe your average working day at Burlanes...

My normal working day firsts consists of opening up the workshop, ensuring all machinery is turned on correctly and set up safely, ready for the day. It is very important that I ensure all machinery is well maintained and that all Health & Safety procedures are followed. I then move on to looking over all of the previous day's work, ensuring each piece is finished to Burlanes' high standard and quality; each of our pieces are handmade by our highly experienced workshop team. I am also responsible for sourcing all materials used (we aim to source all of our materials from within the UK where possible), preparing and drawing all cutting lists for each project, the general overseeing of the production process, and ensuring all deliveries are received and sent out on time.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

As a youngster, I was always making things out of wood; go-karts in the summer, sledges when the snow hit the ground etc. I was very creative and learned very quickly, so it only seemed natural to go into the woodwork environment. I still get great satisfaction from watching something develop from an idea, to a finished product!

Tell us a bit about your career. How has it unfolded?

After Secondary Education, I went to college to study Carpentry & Joinery. After qualifying, I worked for various companies, gaining as much experience as I could within the woodworking industry. My time with Burlanes has allowed me to use all the knowledge and skills I have gained over the years and to progress into a management role.

Tell us about a project that you have worked on with Burlanes that you're particularly proud of...

To see a project progress from a client's dream, from a drawing on paper, then see it move right through our workshop to the finished product installed into a client's home is fantastic. I am proud of every single finished product we produce here at Burlanes.  Just take a look at some of the work  we have done, who wouldn't be proud!

Tell us a little bit about an exciting project you're working on at the moment...

We have all worked incredibly hard over the past few months on a really exciting new range that will be launching soon. I don't want to give too much away before the official launch, but keep your eyes peeled! It's been great watching the new designs take shape, and we can't wait to share it with you all.

What would people be most surprised to know about you?

I have actually played the drums for nearly 40 years, playing professionally for around 4 years during the early 90's recession. I was lucky enough to tour all over Europe with some very well known artists! I now also play guitar alongside the drums, and often play most weekends in a number of venues in and around Kent.

We cannot recommend the Burlanes team enough; they just knew what we needed and got it so right.
