Meet The Team: Helen Gulutu - Burlanes Design Studio Manager

Helen has recently joined the Burlanes team as a Design Consultant and Design Studio Manager of Burlanes Chelmsford, and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the kbb industry.

Let's meet Helen...

Tell us a little bit about yourself...

I have always been very creative and hands on in my work and have an excellent eye for attention to detail. I love to create your dream kitchen and believe everyone should at least try to do this once in their life. I would describe myself as very family orientated, extremely friendly and approachable, but my best quality is my loyalty. Translated into work terms, I will create the best design possible for you and your family’s needs, listen to what works for you in the hub of the home and will hold your hand throughout the whole process of the kitchen project from start to finish.

Describe your dream kitchen...

My dream kitchen would be the Burlanes Hoyden classic shaker cabinetry, white with oak interior, with a beautiful piece of white stone, ogee edged quartz in flow with the lines of the natural wood. A larder which I can hide my gadgets behind to keep the minimalist look. The island would be mainly pan drawers with a wine cooler, wine rack and seating area for socialising with my friends and family. I love Japanese food so my must have would be a teppanyaki hob. 

Tell us a little bit about your career. How has it unfolded?

From the age of 16 when I began my working career, I have always worked with members of the public, I am fascinated with people! Eight years ago I started designing kitchens and have literally found my passion! Not only do I naturally have a flare for design, being a mum and a wife I do not just want a kitchen to look like something out of a magazine, it has to be functional first and foremost.

What do you think makes a 'happy home'?

Love and laughter. ❤️
A home is the heart of the family; it is where you should feel secure, safe, loved and protected from the world. Food has so many emotions. I remember when I was a little girl, going to Grandma & Grandpa's house in Hackney, East London; they lived in a little flat but when I smelt my Grandma's roast potatoes, mmmm, it was a happy home.

Name a kitchen gadget that you couldn't live without!

Has to be my coffee machine, I love coffee! But shortly followed by my juicer; you cannot beat an apple and ginger shot in the morning to get you going, it just tastes so clean.

What would people be most surprised to know about you?

I lived in Cyprus for 8 years; we moved when my daughter was 9 months and my son was born there. Although my husband and I are English, the children went to Greek school. It was an amazing experience and I wouldn’t change it, although I’m pleased we are now back in England with our family.
