Spotlight On: Sean O'Donnell, Burlanes Chelmsford's Design Consultant
Like most the UK during this very uncertain time, the Burlanes team are working from home where possible, and adapting to a very different way of life during the UK's social distancing period and self-isolation. Many of us are now finding the time to do things we have always wanted to do, so each week we will be holding the Spotlight On a member of the Burlanes team, to give us a few ideas of things to do whilst we are all battening down the hatches...
First up is Sean O'Donnell; Burlanes Chelmsford's design consultant. Sean joined the Burlanes team in February 2019 and is currently working from his home in Essex, which he shares with his wife.
How has your first week working from home been? What challenges are you facing / overcoming?
Like many people I have spoken to, it was not until I had set myself up for my first day of working from home that the realisation of how serious this all is set in, but I am extremely grateful that I am able to work from home. It is challenging to work alone when I am so used to being in the busy environment of the Chelmsford showroom with my colleagues, but our clients have been very understanding, and we have been able to carry out all appointments, design consultations and presentations online, by email or over the phone.
Is there anything that you have always wanted to do, but haven't found the time? If so, are you going to try and take this up now?
Yes, I have always wanted to have more time to exercise. I can now do cardio or weight training at home every day, and go for a run with my wife after work. I am also working on improving my Polish as my wife has more time to teach me now, which is great.
Is there anything you are watching at the moment?
I have always been fascinated by nature and the planet and I love watching David Attenborough's Planet Earth, Blue Planet and Frozen Planet. I would highly recommend them, and they are available to watch on Netflix and BBC iPlayer too.
Which area of your home are you most grateful for at the moment?
My office. I am so glad I had a nice space available to set up and work from home. Having a dedicated space within your home to work definitely helps with routine, and allows you to focus without any distractions from elsewhere.
Are you currently listening to anything that you would recommend?
Being Irish, I am a big fan of Irish music, so you will always hear that playing in my home! To relax, I am listening to various online meditations and podcasts, all readily available on YouTube.
