Martin has joined the Burlanes team as our Design Studio Manager of Burlanes Sevenoaks, and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the kbb industry.

Let's meet Martin...

Tell us a little bit about yourself...

I have been in the kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms industry for 25 years now, and have always worked in and around Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells, so I am very familiar with the local architecture and building regulations. I have always worked in businesses that manufacture their own products.

Describe your dream kitchen...

The kitchen really is the heart of the home, so an open-plan space where the family can congregate to eat, drink and socialise is essential to me. I am also a big fan of new technology and kitchen appliances; particularly the BORA induction cooktop and the Quooker boiling water tap, and my dream kitchen would have a steam oven. I think good nutrition is essential.

What do you think makes a 'happy home'?

Definitely an open-plan kitchen / living space. As a family we gravitate to the kitchen regularly, and food is a big part of most people's lives.

Name a kitchen gadget that you couldn't live without!

Definitely my Quooker boiling water tap! I had one installed a couple of years ago at home and I'll never go back to a kettle!

What would people be most surprised to know about you?

I went to art school, and my degree is in painting. Before I starter my career in the ebb industry, I specialised in painting kitchen interiors!
