Creating A Bespoke Kitchen & Furniture For The Westerham Country Cottage

There is nothing we love more than stepping into the beautiful homes of our clients to see how they have styled their new Burlanes furniture, and the country cottage in Westerham exceeded all our expectations!

After a move from Chelsea in London to the beautiful quaint village of Westerham in Kent, the homeowners embarked on an entire renovation of their 1800's cottage, with low ceilings, wonky walls and some much charm.

Burlanes Sevenoaks' Designer Martin worked closely with the homeowners to create a truly bespoke kitchen design, and bespoke storage solutions for the family dining room too.

With a toddler and a new baby on the way, the owners wanted a kitchen that ticked all the boxes of a busy family lifestyle, but also paid homage to the classic, country home it sits within. Our Wellsdown signature cabinetry was the perfect choice; our take on the classic Georgian country kitchen with shaker door and staff bead detailing.

Handpainted in a colour match to Downpipe by Farrow & Ball, the white granite worktops create a striking contrast, with the brushed antique bronze hardware giving an industrial edge. Creating a full splashback around the induction cooktop area using the same material as the worktop is not only a lovely design feature, but ensures a quick and easy clean up from marks and splashes from cooking too. 

Being a galley kitchen, an island was not an option, however it was essential storage was well considered. A signature Burlanes countertop larder provides ample storage for tins and dried goods, and our bespoke spice and pickle racks ensure herbs and spices are within easy reach.

Our unique zig-zag shelving detailing ensures shelves are fully adjustable, and can be moved when needed to maximise storage space for bottles, boxes and jar heights. 

A period property with charm and character, also comes with low ceilings, beams and wonky walls! The true bespoke nature of our furniture allowed designer Martin to create a one-of-a-kind run of cabinetry along the wall under the window; the cabinetry curves to fit the space exactly. 

The fantastic fabricator we work alongside was also able to template the worktop to fit the exact design of the kitchen cabinetry too; creating a seamless finish with undermounted sink. 

When you embark on your new kitchen journey with Burlanes, you are investing in so much more than just a new kitchen. Here, the kitchen cabinet has been hand scribed during installation to fit seamlessly along the curves of the natural brick of the wall.

Adjacent to the kitchen is the stunning family dining room; with bespoke storage solutions also designed, handmade and installed by the Burlanes team.

The colour, a colour match to Tanners Brown by Farrow & Ball, is the perfect contrast to the beautiful Walnut interior, with granite worktop and brushed antique bronze hardware.
