Four Reasons to Choose an Inframe Kitchen

Classic Inframe Kitchen in Green

What is an inframe kitchen and why should you invest in one for your home? Is it the answer to solving your kitchen design needs and how does it differ from mass-produced flatpack options?  An inframe kitchen is one where the doors are inset into a custom-designed frame rather than screwed to an MDF carcass. The structure means that the door is slightly smaller than usual, as it will open within the wooden frame. This is not an off-the-shelf type of kitchen, it reflects the time-honoured, traditional craftsmanship used to build furniture that is built to last but what can you expect from choosing an inframe kitchen?

Quality and craftsmanship

Inframe kitchens utilise centuries-old skills to create a truly bespoke kitchen space. The cabinet doors are constructed with traditional mortise and tendon joins. Strong hinges are fixed to the door and the solid timber cabinet frame is a clearly visible feature. This type of classical joinery creates a particularly strong bond that won’t weaken even with heavy everyday use.

Sustainability and longevity

In recent years the focus of purchasing has shifted from mass production of products to more sustainable design options. The longevity and quality of inframes kitchens are indisputable. Flatpack options are screwed to the front of the kitchen carcass and over time the weight of doors can cause sagging and warping, thus needing replacements. With an inframe, the doors are securely inset into their frame. Although its creation is more time-consuming the traditional joinery used in an inframe kitchen and the inherent strength of the materials used to build your kitchen offer quality, strength, and long-term durability.

We are constantly striving to improve our efforts and awareness of striving for a greener future in furniture making. Find out more about our sustainability pledge here.

Colours

Whatever your colour palette a bespoke inframe kitchen can be created for you. Unlike mass-produced kitchens, there are no limitations as to colour or fixture choices. As the doors and cabinets are made of wood rather than vinyl wrapped MDF you can refurbish your kitchen in the future.

We design and create bespoke, handmade interiors of the highest quality, providing a bespoke service from the first meeting to the final handover of a project. By listening to our clients' needs and working with them closely every step of the way the result is a living space that works for lifestyle and budget.
