A Contemporary Classic in Chelmsford

The homeowners of this characterful Victorian home worked with our Chelmsford designer to create a sense of contemporary elegance matched with practicality and an abundance of storage in their kitchen and utility area. Our Decolane cabinetry, hand-painted in Mylands ‘Holbein Chamber’, creates a stunning statement kitchen that ties the historic home and modern living together.

Creating convenient storage space was a key factor of the homeowners' brief, so careful consideration of layout and design was essential. With a combination of tall units and well-considered storage solutions, the kitchen is hardworking and practical, as well as a hub for the family to gather and enjoy. A combination of cupboard space and made-to-measure drawers provides ample storage space for plates, crockery, pots and pans.

A breakfast pantry can encompass your entire morning – including a coffee machine, toaster and a choice of breakfast delicacies. The bi-fold doors make this large storage space easily accessible. The homeowner chose to light the space making it visually spectacular and combined with the practical storage we can see why this was an essential part of the overall design.

This kitchen was designed with the details in mind. From the combination of Silestone ‘Ethereal’ and brass handles (which highlights the veining in the stone) to the Decolane box skirting every aspect was considered to create a space that reflects the character of the property (and homeowner). Burlanes bespoke cabinetry is handmade to fit the dimensions of your kitchen perfectly, without compromising your style or personal touches. Every appliance in a Burlanes kitchen fits flawlessly, whether you opt for them to be integrated within your cabinetry, or on show. In this kitchen, the homeowner had a dishwasher and rubbish bins tucked behind stunning Decolane cabinetry.

Complementing the newly refurbished kitchen of the property is the utility room; also made from our Decolane cabinetry. The brief for this room was to create plenty of storage, so everything could find its place creating a well organised and practical utility. The homeowner opted for stacked appliances, to make the most of the space available.

With floor-to-ceiling storage cupboards, handmade and beautifully hand-painted, the room provides ample storage for boots, shoes and coats as well as additional storage for homeware. 

The space also features our Decolane panelling which combined with the pastel tones of the walls and Mylands ‘Holbein Chamber’ creates a bright and airy space.
