Meet The Team: Jade Taylor - Admin Officer

Behind the scenes at our bespoke workshop in Rochester, Kent, we have Jade, our Admin Officer. Jade has been with us for two years, helping out in all departments.

Let's meet her...

Tell us a little bit about yourself...

I studied Interior Design in college for three years. I upcycle old furniture in my free time; I have even sold one on eBay! It's a good feeling knowing you are giving something life once again. 

Describe your dream kitchen...

My boyfriend and I recently moved into our first home, and there is a lot of re-decorating I want to do. With endless hours of scrolling on Pinterest looking for inspiration, I keep coming back to the classic shaker kitchen designs. I have fallen in love with the staff bead shaker style, also known in Burlanes as our Decolane style. It is amazing, simply because it shows true craftsmanship and the detailed framework is beautiful!

The must-have appliance in my dream kitchen would be the Quooker tap, simply because I would have instant boiling water, saving countertop space by no longer needing a kettle. 

Tell us a little bit about your career. How has it unfolded?

In my last year in college, Burlanes came in to do a presentation about their company. I was interested in the beautiful projects I saw and I applied to become a Burlanes intern. Sadly, because of COVID, I never got to do this, however, this opportunity did lead to me getting a full-time job as an Admin Assistant here at Burlanes, and two years later, I am now Admin Officer at our workshop supporting all departments.

What do you think makes a 'happy home'?

A happy home would not be complete without family. Every Sunday, everyone in my household will all wake up and have a lovely cooked breakfast, cooked by my dad, with music in the background, just getting ready for the day. This is a perfect example of a happy home.

Name a kitchen gadget that you couldn't live without!

I love my Miele coffee machine, I cannot wake up without getting my latte! I also use my Alexa a lot of the time, I can enjoy my favourite music whilst cooking. 

What would people be most surprised to know about you?

My boyfriend and I have just taken up snowboarding! We are just one lesson away from being able to take on the snowy mountains.
