Our clients are looking at how to remodel existing spaces or create new spaces to accommodate this shift towards flexible working. Location, location, location

Both husband and wife were working from home full time, so commissioned Burlanes to help utilise the limited space in their home office. Space for movement

Our brief was to design, create and install bespoke, handmade bedroom storage solutions and home office furniture, in two children's bedrooms in a Sevenoaks family home. As parents, the homeowners wanted to create a calm and serene space in which their daughters could do their studies, and provide a quiet place to concentrate away from the distractions and disruptions of family life. This is a brilliant option that can grow with your child and provide a dedicated space for studying in those all important senior years.

Designing your desk

Therefore, to avoid developing or compounding back problems, it is important to have an office chair that's ergonomic and that supports the lower back and promotes good posture.

Create order in your working life with storage that works for you. Create spaces for printers and shelves deep enough to store files and books. Think about your workflow how you process information and what you need to hand. Like a kitchen, you need to create a perfect triangle between storage, your computer, and your printer.

Natural light

Good lighting is critical for any home office space, the more natural light you can get the better. This not only reduces eyestrain but will also promote good mental health. Make sure you position your screens so there is no glare. You can enhance your natural light with a light colour to create a sense of space. Add desk lamps to give good task lighting for the darker months of the year.

Think Tech

Wires, cables, connectors, and more create a cluttered look.
