A Functional Home Office

After working from home through COVID, the homeowners to a family home in Chelmsford thought it was time to upgrade their living space and incorporate a new home office.

Burlanes worked closely with the homeowner to find he needed two screens to work from, a lot of cable management, and a secure place to store all of their paperwork

Applying this to the client's brief, Burlanes Chelmsford designed the new office to have enough worktop space to house two separate monitors for the homeowner and also added an additional desk, so the children had the space to do their homework and any home learning. 

Since there would be a lot of electronics, wire management was a high priority for the homeowner to give his bespoke home office the finished look it deserved. To solve this, Burlanes Chelmsford designed the back of the office furniture to have removable back panels; this meant any exposed wire was cleverly hidden away behind the furniture.

A bespoke filing cabinet was added to the design so the homeowners could easily file their paperwork. The Hoyden style drawers were delivered fully installed with Blum drawer runners that can hold up to two suitcases worth of clothes! 

Keeping their new home office clean and tidy was a priority for the homeowner. To keep clutter to a minimum, we made sure there was a space to house the printer so that when it was not in use, it could simply be shut away behind a cupboard door.

''A place for everything, and everything in its place'' is one of our favourite sayings here at Burlanes, so designing a tall open bookshelf, with built-in LED lights was a perfect solution for this home office design; to help keep the worktop space clear, and give everything a specific place!

You always need a good coffee station in every office, whether it is at home or your workplace. This stand-alone coffee station complimented the room perfectly with just enough worktop space for a coffee machine and all the coffee pods you could dream of!
