Spring '19 Trend Insight: Tiles

December 2018

When it comes to wall finishes and tiling for your kitchen or bathroom, the options may seem endless, and the thought of choosing just one that is perfect for the room can be somewhat overwhelming!

If you are in the process of re-designing your kitchen or bathroom, no doubt you will be considering tiles. We have teamed up with our friends at Ca'Pietra to share our trend predictions for tiles for 2019...

A Pop Of Colour

"Gone are the days of avocado and duck egg coloured bathroom suites and garish kitchen appliances. Now, classic and timeless whites and greys are on trend, with colour and patterns being introduced into kitchen and bathroom in other ways, such as coloured tiles and splashbacks", says Lindsey Durrant, Burlanes' Design Director.

"As a homeowner, your personality and style can be injected into your room through the tiles you choose, and by picking out an accent colour you can really transform a room", adds Jon Sillitoe, Burlanes' Design Consultant.

Moroccan Impressions Tiles

Hardwearing, durable and as beautiful as they are practical, these patterns are printed and fired onto a glazed porcelain tile base. We have "Monastery" on display at Burlanes Chelmsford, perfectly complementing our Decolane kitchen chef's table.

The Shape Of Things To Come

"When it comes to tile trends, shapes are gaining as much interest as colour and today's homeowners can benefit from the wide array of tile shapes that can now be used to create stunning feature areas and eye-catching schemes", says Hamish Smith, Ca'Pietra's Creative Director. "While you might think that the introduction of shapes creates a thoroughly modern feel, mixed with the correct colours, textures and materials, this trend works equally as well in more rustic spaces too."

Atlantis Scallop Tile

Scallop tiles are sitting at the top of the trend forecasts for 2019, particularly for bathrooms with their fish scale effect. With an array of colour choices from Ca'Pietra, the Scallop tile can be vibrant and bold in colours such as Emerald and Ultramarine from the 'Atlantis' porcelain collection, or more subtle and sophisticated in Grey.

Must-Have Metro

"The metro tile is classic and timeless, styled on the famously adorned walls of London and New York's Underground stations in the early 1900s. Due to their simple, minimalist yet chic look, the tiles have grown in popularity over the years, and are still set to be a huge trend of 2019, particularly for kitchens!" Says Jarrett Banks, Burlanes' Design Consultant. "Available in such a broad spectrum of colours and finishes, the metro tile is probably the most versatile of them all."

 Avebury Ceramic Tile

The Avebury ceramic is a classic tile with a contemporary twist. Available in a range of colours from traditional pure white through to subtle grey, the Avebury tile can be used to create inventive patterns or solid blocks of colour.

The Hexagonal Lily Pad Encaustic pattern tile by Ca'Pietra has been on every interior guru's hot-list this year, and it is set to continue to be a huge tile trend for 2019 too! Available in Marine, Plum, Blush Rose, Eden, Denim and Clay, there really is a colour for every scheme; use it to make a shower area pop or give floors the ultimate visual feast.

Marvellous Marble Inspired

The epitome of luxury, marble tiles are classic, timeless and beautiful. If you want to achieve the stylish look of natural marble, but do not have the time for the hassle of regular treatment and maintenance of the stone, then marble effect tiles are right for you.

Marbleous Luni Porcelain Tile

High definition porcelain, which replicates the beauty of natural marble to perfectly, the Marbleous Luni Porcelain tile challenges the natural stone at a fraction of the cost, and is also much easier to cut, install, clean and maintain.
