A Classic shaker kitchen
The dark blue shaker galley kitchen in Chelmsford is handpainted in Bond Street by Mylands with contrasting Soho House on the walls. A classic, shaker style galley kitchen with an industrial feel, that opens up into an open-plan family dining and living space, with a Burlanes truly bespoke media wall.
Designer's comment
"A galley kitchen in period properties can often be dark, narrow spaces, but by opening up the back of the property, we were able to create an open-plan living area too; perfect for the whole family to enjoy. The bank of tall cabinetry flows seamlessly from the kitchen into the living space, with a bespoke Burlanes media wall concealed behind beautiful shaker doors."
The peninsula
A peninsula is a great design choice if space for an island is not available. Not only does a peninsula provide additional worktop and storage space, a breakfast bar can be easily created with the worktop overhang, or in this case a bespoke wooden butcher's block, and it creates a clear divide between the kitchen area and the living space too.
Breakfast pantry
Behind these beautiful shaker doors is the original fireplace of the 18th century property, that our Chelmsford design team transformed into a wonderful breakfast pantry!
Truly bespoke furniture can be designed and handmade to fit the room exactly, there really are no set sizes, off-the-shelf designs or fixed dimensions. Fully adjustable shelving provides space for glasses, mugs and crockery, and the three lovely handmade solid oak drawers contain fruit and vegetables within easy reach.
Media Wall
The run of cabinetry along the back wall of the property makes such a statement! An extension of the kitchen but also a clear divide between the kitchen and living area, the doors in the middle open up to reveal a concealed media unit.
With an additional formal living area elsewhere in the home, the family wanted a casual space to relax as a family, and the open-plan kitchen / living space is just that.
