Step Inside Dame Kelly Holmes' Bespoke Burlanes Kitchen

Nestled away in the beautiful Kent countryside, overlooking acres of farm land and rolling hills is Dame Kelly Holmes' stunning period property. Lindsey Durrant, Burlanes Sevenoaks' head designer, worked closely with Dame Kelly to design a beautiful and functional open-plan kitchen in keeping with the traditional styling of her home, but boasting all the benefits of contemporary living.

Our Wellsdown kitchen is our take on the classic Georgian country kitchen; built on the notions of good proportions and symmetry, and was the perfect choice for achieving the traditional styling of the room.

Handpainted in Bond Street by Mylands, Lindsey worked with Dame Kelly to create a floor-to-ceiling run of cabinetry that would provide a multitude of storage space, and house the Caple ovens, refrigerator and freezer. Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry is a great design choice for open-plan kitchens, making really good use of space.

A little over 4 metres in length, this is quite possibly the largest island we have designed, handmade and installed at Burlanes, and what a show stopper it is!! An island was an important design choice in this kitchen; not only does it provide all worktop space, it also houses the rubbish and recycling bins, dishwasher, main sink and a prep sink with a Quooker boiling water tap, and provides a breakfast bar seating area too. Dame Kelly opted for the Quooker Fusion tap in patinated brass; complementing the brass handles and hardware perfectly.

Bi-fold doors work really well on floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, particularly in a breakfast pantry setting like this. The doors can be quickly and easily opened and left open when prepping food and cooking, without causing a hazard as you manoeuvre around your kitchen.

Our signature zig-zag shelving is fully adjustable, so you are able to raise or lower the heights of each shelf as needed. Electricity points integrated within the cabinetry also allows appliances to be stored and used without being on show, or taking up worktop space.

A keen cook and an advocate for good nutrition to fuel a healthy lifestyle, Dame Kelly wanted a kitchen that would allow her to cook whilst socialising, therefore we integrated the BORA induction cooktop into the kitchen island.

A lover of gin, a gin fridge was essential!! The Caple in-column tripe zone wine cooler slots seamlessly into our handmade furniture.
