1. The Sevenoaks family kitchen
An extra metre of space was exactly what was needed to create the open-plan family kitchen the owners had always dreamed of. The side return extension on this beautiful Sevenoaks Victorian terrace meant a large kitchen island with breakfast bar was able to be incorporated into the design, as well as the freestanding refrigerator and bespoke surround.

Opting for a glass sloped ceiling also ensured natural light flooded the space.

2. The London townhouse kitchen

A truly stunning townhouse in the heart of Crystal Palace, this side return extension opened up a whole new host of design opportunities. The owners were able to create their dream inner courtyard between their living room and kitchen; and what an incredible space it is!

Just an additional 1.5 metres of space meant an island was also an option, transforming a once narrow galley kitchen into a large, open plan space for entertaining. 

Although planning permission was not required, the owners did need to obtain party wall agreement with their neighbours as they were building up to their boundary, so before embarking on your renovation journey, do ensure all correct permissions have been granted.

3. The industrial style Greenwich kitchen

Tucked away in a lovely little side street in Greenwich, this London townhouse is beautiful and elegant, and so unassuming from the exterior! 

Initially a small room to the rear of the property, the kitchen was very cluttered with very little storage space; the homeowners dreamed of a large, open plan kitchen and living space, with glass rear doors to the garden and lots of natural light, so works on a rear and side return extension began. By opening up the back of the property, it was incredible just how much natural light flooded the room!

The additional space created by having the side return extension allowed the owners to incorporate a design table as well as an island within their design, and an incredible staircase and slide from the children's playroom into the kitchen!
