Working on the PR and Marketing team here at Burlanes, I am lucky enough to be able to flick through lots of lovely interior magazines daily, and I regularly chat with interior photographers, journalists and magazine editors about current trends, trend predictions and of course our beautiful bespoke kitchens and furniture. Whilst discussing an upcoming feature, I had a quick chat with Devon based Interiors Journalist Linda Clayton about her current home renovation, likes and dislikes, and what Linda cannot live without in her kitchen...

They say that all the best parties take place in the kitchen, so it is no wonder that it has grown to be the heart of the family home! It is almost too hard to believe that initially, the kitchen was a room kept out of sight, used only for the cooking and the washing up. Read our top tips on how to design your kitchen to be as sociable as possible... 

In recent years, the kitchen island has grown in popularity, and is now often considered an essential design feature of any modern kitchen. Whether you want to create additional worktop and storage space, incorporate a breakfast bar and somewhere to congregate, or even to simply create zones within a large open-plan space, there are so many reasons to want an island in your new kitchen.

Traditionally, kitchens were made up of base cabinets and wall cabinets or freestanding pieces of furniture, usually with a separate walk-in pantry. In recent years however, design preferences have changed and evolved in kitchen design, and homeowners are now opting for floor-to-ceiling kitchen cabinets, maximising storage space.

Something a little different to our usual style, we injected a little glamour into our handmade  Decolane kitchen  in Upminster, Essex. We shared this  kitchen  on our  Instagram  a couple of weeks ago and we were asked lots of questions about it; so we thought we would share a blog post of all details of this beautiful room.

Located on the most wonderfully serene country lane in the heart of East Sussex, Mr & Mrs Carter's home really is one of a kind. A period property originally built in the 14th century, it holds so much incredible history, and has housed many families over the hundreds of years. Burlanes were commissioned to design, create and install the kitchen and utility room, and a number of other rooms in the home, including the family bathroom, the master en-suite and dressing room, and bespoke shoe storage for the entrance hall.

Sean O'Donnell has recently joined the Burlanes team as a  Design Consultant , currently based in our  Chelmsford  showroom. Sean is one of the first people you will meet when planning a new  kitchen ,  bathroom  or living space in your new home.

With their children growing up, Mr & Mrs Hills in Leigh-On-Sea decided it was time to give their much loved family kitchen a well deserved renovation, creating a space for all the family to use and enjoy.
