With a busy working lifestyle and three young children, the family of this beautiful characteristic home wanted an open plan kitchen and dining area, perfect for family mealtimes and entertaining guests. Inspired by clean lines and minimalistic decor, our Hoyden kitchen is well suited to all homes, and complements the beautiful, classic features of this period home perfectly.
Lots of storage space was a must when designing this kitchen, which our design team incorporated in two beautiful, tall larder units either side of the large family fridge. Hand painted in Farrow & Ball 'Downpipe', the larders are a real focal point, with stunning antique silver handles and oak interiors.
Our design team are amazing at what they do, and are very particular when it comes to attention to detail. Both larders were designed with dry goods storage in mind, with each shelf fully adjustable to ensure layout was perfect for tins, jars and cereal boxes. A pull-out tray on runners allows easy access to the family toaster, with its own power socket concealed within the unit. Large drawers in each larder provide lots of storage space for fresh vegetables.
The homeowners are both keen cooks, so a large open plan area to prepare and cook meals was a necessity. Our design team created this beautiful set up hand painted in Farrow & Ball 'Plummett'; spacious, bright and airy, with a shelf along the splash-back to store oils, herbs and spices within easy reach whilst cooking. The homeowners chose a classic Mercury dual fuel range cooker in stainless steel, perfectly complemented by the mirrored splash back by Ca'Pietra.
Deep drawers either side of the Mercury were custom made to store all pots, pans and cooking utensils within easy reach, and spotlights and an extremely effective extractor fan were fitted into the cooker surround to ensure the kitchen is light, bright and all cooking smells and fumes are extracted at the source.
There are so many wonderful benefits to bespoke furniture. Each and every single piece of furniture we make at Burlanes is bespoke, and made-to-measure to suit the dimensions of a room perfectly. We designed and hand made a 'Norwegian Corner' dresser cabinet with bi-fold doors and an integrated combination oven, filling the corner alcove perfectly and making use of all available space.
An under counter refrigerator, general rubbish and recycling bins and a dishwasher are also all integrated into this run of cabinets, with the plinth set back slightly at the base of the cabinets for feet to tuck under when preparing food.
Positioned beneath the window overlooking the stunning picturesque garden is an under-mounted ceramic sink with Quooker boiling water tap. The Quooker tap provides instant boiling water, as well as hot and cold water, eliminating the need for a kettle. The Silestone Quartz worktops in 'Polished Lagoon' have been scribed to provide a draining system, and are a striking contrast to the grey cabinetry.
As keen cooks, the homeowners have lots of recipe books that they wanted to store in the kitchen within easy reach. Our design team created this simple yet effective open bookcase providing lots of storage whilst in keeping with the streamlined kitchen.
As a galley style kitchen, there was not the room for a central island, so we created this stunning square peninsula extending from the main worktop space, with integrated storage space, an oak cutlery tray easily accessible from the dining area, and Miele wine cooler.
An island or peninsula is a great way of adding a stunning feature to your kitchen, and provides additional worktop and storage space too.
The conservatory style extension adds yet another stunning feature to what is already a beautiful looking home with so much character. Having such a bright and spacious dining area provides a homely yet suitable space for the children to do their homework, as well as an area for the family to dine, chat and socialise, with easy access to the kitchen (and the wine cooler on a Friday evening!)
The conservatory is painted in the same Farrow & Ball 'Downpipe' as the larder units, and the shutters are painted in 'Plummett', complementing the kitchen cabinetry perfectly. The concrete effect dining table and chairs add a splash of colour to the room, creating a real impact.
Located just off the kitchen at the rear of the house is the family utility room and laundry. With three small children, storage space for coats, shoes, outdoors and school equipment was a necessity for this family. Our design team created this space for just that: worktop space and integrated appliances for the laundry, a shelved row of coat hooks with storage space above and a bench with storage space underneath for shoes.
The family tend to use the back door of the property much more often than the front door, as the back door leads directly out into the garden and to the garage. By creating a boot room area within the utility room at the back door ensures the children's muddy clothes and shoes can be taken off and stored away quickly and easily, so no muddy footprints through the house! The family also own two beautiful kittens, who are very playful and love being outdoors! The utility room is a great space for their food and water bowls, and the integrated cat flap allows them to safely roam in and out of the house as they please.
At Burlanes, we know the importance of maximising all available space, and we create and make furniture to perfectly fit the dimensions of any room. We designed this floor-to-ceiling storage cupboard to make use of the wasted space between the door and the wall, complete with oak internal shelves for washing tablets, cleaning products and even a space for the ironing board.
We provide a bespoke service from the first meeting to the final handover of a project. By listening to our clients' needs and working with them closely every step of the way; the result is a living space that works for lifestyle and budget.
